Shaolin is the ancestral home of Chinese Kung Fu.
The Shaolin Temple Wu Shu Training Centre – Australian Representative Office is the official Australian representative of the Shaolin Temple Wu Shu Training Centre in Shaolin, China. The Training Centre is located just 500 metres east of the world famous Song Shan Shaolin Temple. Shaolin is nestled in the foothills of the Song Shan mountain range, where monks have been practicing Shaolin Kung Fu for over 1500 years.
The Shaolin Chan Wu (Zen Martial Arts) system traces its origins to Bodhidharma (Tamo) – the Buddhist monk from Southern India who arrived in China around the 5th century. Legend has it that upon gaining entry to the Shaolin monastery (having meditated outside the monastery walls for 9 years) he found the monks in such poor physical condition from spending all day studying and copying scrolls that he introduced a regimen of meditation and martial exercises. Around 550 AD these became formalised into the original Shaolin basic routines (the Yi Jin Jing) and this in turn evolved into the full array of Shaolin ‘Chan Wu’ Martial Arts that are now practised in various forms around the world.
Our objective is to provide an opportunity for you to learn more about the unique world of Shaolin Philosophy and its Martial Arts.
The Representative Office therefore acts on behalf of the Shaolin Wu Shu Training Centre to provide the following services.
